Default My Experience

From what I read from other posts, I have read about many things I had missed out on durring the last BWE (my first BWE). I played two characters totaling around 20 hours. I didn't do any specific builds, I just did Role Playing Quests. I didn't do any PVP or anything with Guilds. Most of the time I played by myself.

I feel like I didn't start on the right foot. Can someone give me some hints as to what I should do in the beginning of the game so I can start off on the right foot in the upcomming release?

I played a Necromancer the entire time and finally added Elementalist to my secondary profession near the end of the event.

My advise is dont stay in Pre-Serian any longer than you have to. Yes its beautiful, but all the quests are tideous at best. Once you hit lvl 4-5 get the hell out of there.

Make sure to stay in Pre-Searing long enough to get:
Rez signet
Belt Pouch
all available primary and secondary skills.

Can you provide a link of what primary and secondary skills can be obtained in pre-searing for all/most proffesions?

I have to say that doing as many quests on the way is great. It is so easy to get exp in pre seared ascalon. You should get to lvl 4 or 5 before leaving b/c once your out exp is a little harder to get. If you reach lvl 5 before leaving by the time you get to sanctum cay you will be lvl 20. If you leave at lvl 3 you will be 17 or 18 probably. I do about 10 missions outside of getting skills quests so that i can gain several exp easy. It doesnt take up much time either. You can get these quests while yopu are running to the next skill trainer.

You just need to do all the quests for your specific profession. There is normally two people of your profession, for example for Necromancer - Muune, and Kaisha(sp?). Talk to them and make sure you get all the quests. I'm not sure where you get Rez Signet from, nor pouch in pre-searing Asclon, though would like to know?

Both in pre-searing Ascalon:
- Rez signet is right outside Ascalon City to your left.
- Belt pouch can be obtained by a guy in the village where Devona is by giving him 5 belts dropped by bandits.

You get the Rez signet from the lady standing right outside of pre-searing Ascalon gate, next to the rez portal-whatever it is called. Her "quest" is for you to go to town, get a party member, and go back and talk to her. She'll then give you the signet. You can also get the rez signet post searing from skill trainers.

The belt pouch is gotten by trading 5 worn belts to a trader, I believe he is in Lakeside country, not too far from Ascalon, near a chest...someone else could give a better description I'm guessing.

There is also a similar trader in post-searing. Unfortunately I can't remember his exact location either, but know for a fact I ran into him this last BWE. I had forgotten to get the belt pouch in pre-searing with this char, so I was glad when I found him in post. I didn't have the worn belts on me at time though, so I tried to remember his location for later. Again, unfortunately, I didn't do too great of a job on this. He is in one of two places: Either directly south of Fort Ranik, or directly south of Sardelac Sanatarium. So if you miss it in pre, you can still get it in post, unless that is changed in final release.

It's like a smaller version of your backpack. In your inventory there are four bag/backpack slots. The 2nd slot is used by the belt pouch. Just extra inventory room.

Outside the entrance and left there was a guy that gave me a belt pouch for 5 scale fin's and there are plenty of river scales nearby who drop them so that's easy.

You get the rez signet, when you turn left after you leave Ascalon Town (next to the respawn portal). Quest: Team up with another player and talk to her again. Easy as that....

I leveled 2 characters to level 6-7 bevor leaving old ascalon. That way you are asured that your skills an spells have the right power to enter the story mission straight away (and you have enough craftign materials for a basic armor set / weapon).

You can also buy belt pouches after you get to Old Ascalon. Not sure if it was in the starting area or later, but they cost 100 gold. Later on you can make you belt pouch larger, think that cost something like 400-500 gold. I got by fine just carrying a salvage kit and dropping my crafting materials in the Vault after each mission. Saves a lot of space and you can use the materials with you other characters.

I like doing as many missions as i can before going to the academy. Whats the rush getting out of there? You only get to the end faster.

The Rune of holding only works on Sacks(bags) and not belt pouchs

Looks like you missed the third necro trainer Oberan the Reviled in the catacombs for

In the beta most Professions had 3 (not counting the initial primary trainer outside Ascalon) elementalist and mesmer only has 2 but it has been speculated that more will be added in Retail.

Yeah, i know, but still, even if they add ten times as much content, what is the rush?

Actauly stay in pre-searing until the tension gets to you. Its easy to level there. And once you hit the academy, there is no turning back.

PLUS you wont be the newbie of the group when you get to the coop misions.

I think it's also good to try to kill some monsters north of the wall in pre-sear. You get great drops from the oakhearts, and they're not that tough. The Charr are more difficult, but you can practice up on your tactics, and group splitting. You get tons of good crafting materials from the Charr as well. I learned more about playing my character Me/Nec in that area than by doing any of the quests.
